Let there be light!!
After a long tiresome journey by the state bus we finally reached our destination. My friend was almost in tears because she could no longer endure the pain. She had high fever since the last three days and we could not get any medical help because all the hospitals were celebrating 25 yrs of OBC reservation.Today finally we could make it to the hospital only to find a long queue of patients. All the VVIP’s(OBC’s) had instant access to medical help whenever they arrived and so the general category had to wait for hours even before they could get hold of a medical attendant let alone qualified doctors.
After examining my friend ,the attendant prescribed some medicines and instructed to carry out some tests. As per government rules general category people had to pay twice the fees ,the OBC’s and SC ST’s payed. After being physically and financially drained out we finally moved to the pharmaceutical where I made my friend sit on a bench coz there also the same rules applied and after nearly two hours of patient waiting ,I got the medicines. This time we could not afford to board the state bus because the general category public could not have the privilege of sitting till all OBC’s had comfortably seated themselves and my friend would surely collapse in such a situation. So we took a taxi home……even if it meant sacrificing a meal.
This is just a nightmare I had. Why did I have such a dream? When I woke up, it was broad daylight and the whole thing seemed a nonsense to me.Just imagine your children being forced to sit in the last row because the OBC’s can only sit in the front rows.Imagine they being denied books in the library just because OBC’s have the first preference.Imagine parks where playgrounds are reserved for OBC children.I know this is exaggeration but the nawabs in ancient India also had no clue that the British would take over the ownership of our country starting with just a trade permit.I know pujaris in my native who have to perform thousands of yagnas everyday to make both ends meet .They are not SC,ST or OBC…..but they surely are economically backward.I know politicians whose children are sent to the best of institutions on the basis of the OBC certificate they have.Do they really need it? They have all means to live a normal life, then why do they need a crutch? Even if after 50 odd years of independence and reservations the backward classes of India have not been uplifted then surely reservation is not an efficient method to be adopted.
Let there be light…..so that, we the people of India can bask in its vitality.
